The long, poetic version:

PCI Compliance. If your online store accepts credit cards, it's required that your website be PCI Compliant. How does one become PCI compliant?

For most average-sized online businesses, becoming PCI Compliant is a multi-step process:
1. Have your website evaluated by a third-party PCI Compliance scanning company.
2. Make any required fixes discovered by the PCI scan to obtain a PCI Compliance Report.
3. Complete a SAQ (Self Assessment Questionnaire).
4. Submit the SAQ and PCI Compliance Report to your merchant account provider.

The problem:
Every few months, we get inundated with PCI scan results that our clients send to us after they have their website evaluated. Obviously, we're happy to help when we can. But, since most of our clients aren't experts on network security and they're not sure what the reports mean, it's a slow process.

Our clients inevitably become middle-men, sending reports back and forth between Modular Merchant and the scanning service. It adds a lot of extra work, time and stress to all parties involved.

Additionally, a wide variety of scanning services are being used, which further slows us down. Each service has a different procedure for reporting and resolving issues.

And finally, there's growing evidence that the PCI scans from certain services are causing web servers to crash! In the near future, it may become necessary to block those services' access to our web servers.


The solution:
Wouldn't it be great if Modular Merchant could manage the PCI scanning on behalf of our clients, make the fixes ourselves, then provide them with a completed PCI Compliance Report each month? We'll we're happy to announce that now we can!

For several months we've been working with McAfee to develop such a service for our clients. We recently finalized the terms of that service, and may start offering it to our clients!


Here's how it works:
1. Modular Merchant will start scanning the website our clients host with us with either McAfee's standard PCI Certification Service or their advanced McAfee Secure service.

2. Modular Merchant will provide monthly PCI compliance reports directly to you. These reports will be provided via Support Ticket and/or will be downloadable directly from within your store's administration area.

3. When PCI issues arise, Modular Merchant techs will be able to access the reports and work with McAfee directly to resolve the issues. No more need for you to become the middle-man! Once the issue is resolved, an updated PCI compliance report will be run to confirm your site's clean bill of health, and provided to you.

4. A McAfee control panel will also be available to you to complete your PCI Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ), view your scan results, and manually download reports at any time.

5. As a Modular Merchant client, you'll receive a great discount on the service. The regular price for McAfee's PCI Certification Service is $319.00/year. However, we've been authorized to make this service available to Modular Merchant clients for the low rate of $249.99/year. That's a 20% savings off McAfee's price!
