Version 3.5.9.1 of the Modular Merchant shopping cart software introduced a powerful new tool for managing membership websites.
If you sell information, it's likely that you'll need a "members-only" sections of your website, where only your customers can log in to gain access to the information they have purchased. Modular Merchant's Subscription Product system (also called recurring billing or a continuity program) makes this possible and easy to manage. With Modular Merchant, you can set any product to be a "membership" product. When a customer purchases one, they will automatically have access to its "members only" content!
Modular Merchant's shopping cart software offers two different ways that you can provide members-only content to your customers: You can either use the store's built-in members area, or add a membership area to your own website.
Now available is a series of articles which provide an overview of both of these methods and tutorials on their use. Use the method that works best for you, depending on your skill level and desired results.

I'm on a trial cart currently, been building cart after cart trying to find the right one. this looks very close if not perfect.
Can I insert the member's only php into product pages? I want to sell a membership then protect the rest of the store contents from the public.
I like the RMV for inserting into my domain's pages - that is perfect and I'm working on that now. Need to figure out the destination. Saw the -session start- so that looks great too. Just need to know if I can insert the php into product pages/template, etc to achieve the goal of a publically offered membership leading to a secure ordering area of about 50 "collective member" products. |

| Quote: | | Can I insert the member's only php into product pages? | Technically speaking, yes, the RMV php scripts could be used in the store's product templates. Templates can use HTML, PHP and JavaScript, so the RMV system's PHP scripts would be a compatible technology.
That said, it's not recommended to do so. The RMV system is designed to be used on a remote website. (The "R" in RMV stands for "Remote".) Using the RMV system in the store's product templates may lead to issues for new users who're not completely familiar with the cart system.
For example, you mentioned the presence of PHP's session_start() function in the RMV samples. The shopping cart has its own call to session_start(), and calling it again from within a template could cause unexpected results.
There are other options available for managing customers within the store's templates. For the next step, I'd recommend starting a Support Ticket within your account's administration area. Providing specific details in the Ticket about what you're trying to accomplish will help the Support Team point you in the right direction.
I hope this information is helpful. Let us know if there's anything else we can assist you with. _________________ Modular Merchant Mail Bag
