Hello,
| Quote: | | So that is my first question - how to handle that. In Pay Pal I set up the first month as a trial subscription that includes the "setup fee and monthly fee". Then it is set for the next months it is just the regular "monthly fee". |
This can be done by setting up two separate products, one that will be the "Free Trial" and the second as the actual "Monthly Fee" product.
1. From the standard product editor [Navigation Menu > Products > Search Products], click on the Scheduled Billing tab and set the product to rebill in 30 days under Option # 1.
2. Under Option # 3, set the amount of rebill cycles as 1.
3. Under Option # 4, select "Add a new product to the Scheduled Order Queue; select the "Monthly Fee" product.
This will set the Trial Period product to automatically switch to the Monthly Fee product after 30 days.

| Quote: | | The next question is about my customers being able to upgrade their subscriptions. Right now with Pay Pal the only thing I can do is just have them sign up for a completely new subscription when they want to upgrade. Then they have to login and cancel their old subscription. Or I have to login and cancel the subscription for them. It is just a pain to have them resign up for the subscription and it is costing me time and money. |
There are a few methods in which customers can upgrade their subscription. The first option would be for the customer to cancel their current subscription and then purchase the upgraded version from your store. The second option would be for a store administrator to manually edit their scheduled order to rebill as the upgraded version rather than their current version.
Below are a few Knowledge Base articles that will be helpful in making edits to the customer's scheduled order:
