|
|
Hi,
I want to sell a monthly subscription to a set of digital graphics files. (contained in just one zip file). that will bill on the first of each month
I am confused as to the best way to set this up. The product is really the same each month, just a different zip file to download each month.
I do this with just one product and then change the download file for it on the 30th of each month will that still allow existing customers to download the old file as well as the new order?
example order# 1 has product A with digital file A then on the 30th of the month I would change the file so that on the first of the next month it would look like this: order# 1 has product A with digital file B if I do this will the customers that purchased this last month (with File A) still be able to download it? (if they haven't downloaded it yet)...
Or would it be best for me to just create a series of 12 products (A different one for each month) with only the SKU# being different.. and then just chain them together? and out them in an inactive category. with only the current months product being the active one?
I appreciate any insight you have on this
Thanks!

Either approach would work in this scenario. The question on which method to use would depend on how you want to set the products up. Either to change them each month, or set all of the products up ahead of time and how them cycle through automatically. Again, either method would achieve this goal.

Actually I would prefer to just change the download files in 1 product each month.. If I do this will the old files still be available?
example: The june subscription orders have all been created on June 1 ... but not all customers have downloaded the june files yet. If on june 30 I change the download files in the product to be the July files and on July 1 all the orders process again will the June files still be available for the customers who haven't downloaded them yet?
I guess what I am asking is after the subscription becomes an order are the download files associated with the order so that if the download files change for new orders people will still be able to download the old orders files?
Thanks!

There's another article on this forum, Create a Digital Library Your Customers Can Subscribe To, that contains a tutorial to offer this type of subscription scenario to customers. This may have the information that you're looking for. _________________ Modular Merchant Mail Bag
