|
|
I sell digital downloads of ebooks [store not live yet], and can't find a way to incorporate Author info into my Category and Product pages. I want Author(s) displayed automatically in Cat and Product pages, based on my product upload file.
"Manufacturer" won't work, since a book can only have one Mfg##whereas I have plenty of books with multiple Authors. I use Mfg for different 'lines', eg Childrens, Non-fiction etc.
I don't see any other suitable input field where I can put Author name(s). It's a very important store functionality for me, as customers need to see Author name(s) when browsing##Author name is a key branding item in my industry.
[Not relevant to this afaik, but I have individual Authors set up as sub-Cats under the parent Cat Authors##so they are easily accessible via the expanded store menu. Each book is linked to the relevant Author sub-Cat(s), which enables all an Author's books to be listed when a customer clicks on an Author name in the menu]
Any advice on how I can achieve Author display with each product display? I don't see any ability to create custom fields, which would probably solve this.
Examples of what I want:
Category listing for Sci-Fi
Foundation
Isaac Asimov
Rendezvous with Rama
Arthur C Clarke
The Light of Other Days
Arthur C Clarke and Stephen Baxter
Dune
Frank Herbert
...
Product detail page
The Light of Other Days
Arthur C Clarke and Stephen Baxter
...other product details
...
I would like similar functionality for book series, eg...
Foundation
Isaac Asimov
Book 1 of the Foundation Trilogy
...but I can live without that if it's not easily doable.
Thanks
Mike. |

Thank you for this suggestion. This feature is not available in the current version of the software. However, we have plans to include this functionality to the store in a future major software update.
If you have any further questions, please let us know. |

Trying to find best work-around for this. If I understand cart functionality correctly, to achieve auto Cat listing like...
Category listing for Sci-Fi
The Light of Other Days
Author(s): Arthur C Clarke, Stephen Baxter
...I need to use a QCtag which starts with "{RESULTS-"##is that correct?
The "Statistics" field looked promising, but it doesn't have a "{RESULTS-" version of its QCtag. Looks to me like "Short Description" is the only field I can press into action for this, since it has the {RESULTS-SHORT-DESCRIPTION} QCtag.
Is this so, or am I missing another approach?
Thanks

Using the Short Description field will work well for adding more descriptives to the products. One handy feature of the Short Description is the ability to be displayed in the Search Pages as well as the Product Details pages. This method is the most flexible for what you are trying to achieve. It is recommended to use this method, until more tools and features become available in the next major software update.
If you have any further questions, please let us know. Thank you. |
