Ok, this may be a very simple thing to do but I have not been thus far able to figure it out. My store is going to sell digital music files.

To test I have set up 1 zip file and then 5 individual mp3's.

What I would like to do is as follows: For each "digital album" product I would like the user to be able to add 1 zip file with all of the songs to their order. This is a breeze with Modular Merchant :]

The other thing I would like to happen is this:

When the user visits the "Digital Album" product page, in the description area I would like a list of each individual song with an add to cart button that would add just that file to the shopping cart.

I imagine that this would require the set up of 5 individual products - 1 for each single mp3 file. That would be fine so long as 2 requirements are met:

1. Clicking on the individual mp3 file in the shopping cart returns the user to the mp3 album product page and not the product page of the single MP3.

2. There is no listing of individual mp3 files on the site. Only mp3 albums.

I have seen this done on Modular Merchant carts such as fixtstore.com

Does this make sense? Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

This can be done by listing the individual mp3 track names or descriptions within the Long Description field in the Product Editor. Next to each of the track names create an HTML button that will use a Quick Location quicklink for that track. Within the quicklink, specify the location to be the product details page for the album product. This will automatically add the track to the customer's basket but will appear as if they did not move from that almbum's details page. This can be done by doing the following:

Note: These instructions are assuming the Album product has already been created.

Create individual mp3 products

1. From the Administration area go to [Navigation Menu > Products > Add a Product].
2. Fill out all of the necessary fields for the individual mp3; they will be treated as individual products at this point.
3. Click Submit when finished.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 for each individual mp3 track in the album.
5. Next go to [Navigation Menu > Products > Search Products], click on the "Chain-Link" icon for one of the individual mp3 tracks, to pull up the QuickLink options for that track.
6. Choose the Quick Location QuickLink; within the QuickLink itself change the www.mylocation.com to the Product Details page for the Album product.
7. Use a text editor or MS Word to keep track of all the QuickLinks to be used for the HTML buttons.
8. Repeat steps 5-7 for each of the individual mp3 products.

Creating the HTML buttons for each of the mp3 tracks

1. Form the Administration area go to [Navigation Menu > Products > Search Products], find the Album product and click on the name to open the product details page.
2. Click on the Display Options tab and begin entering the track listing in the "Long Description" field. HTML is allowed in this field, so the creation of HTML buttons is possible. For each of the tracks create a button that uses the appropriate QuickLink for that mp3 track.
3. Click Submit when finished.

This can be done by creating an Inactive Category and assigning all of the individual mp3 products to this category. Then in each of the mp3 products; disabling the "Display Options" for displaying the product in the storefront and in the Search Results. This can be done by doing the following:

Creating the inactive category

1. From the Administration area go to [Navigation Menu > Products > Add a Category], give the category a name and deselect Option # 3.
2. Click Submit when finished. This will create the inactive category.

Assigning the mp3 products to the inactive category to hide them

1. From the Administration area go to [Navigation Menu > Products > Search Products], find the products in question and click on their name to open the product details page.
2. Under the General Options tab, choose the new inactive category from Option # 10. Click Submit when finished.
3. Next click on the Display Options tab and deselect both Options # 3 and 4. Click Submit when finished.
4. Repeat these steps for each individual mp3 product. This will hide the products from the storefront pages and the only way customers will know about them is through the Album product details page.

I hope this information was helpful. If you have any further questions, please let us know.[/quote]

This looks like an amazingly experienced and thought out reply - I will try to follow these steps later today and report back. Thank you so much!
