Allows customers to place an order, the store is notified, and the payment of the transaction will be agreed upon over the call: c/c over phone, mailed check, etc.

To answer your question, it is possible to place a manual order by utilizing the Plan an Order tool in the Administration area. This tool is intended for manual orders to be placed by a store admin, such as a phone order. Using this method it is possible to select Check, Cash, Money Order, etc. as a payment option. In the storefront, this is not possible; as the storefront is designed for automatic payment through a payment gateway.

To place an order via the Administration area please do the following:

1. From the Administration area go to [Navigation Menu > Customers > Place an Order], choose the customer in which the order is for by clicking on the Cart icon next to their name. If this is a new customer click the Create a new customer link at the bottom of the customer list.
2. Once the customer is selected, choose the product(s) that will be purchased in this order by clicking the Cart + icon next to the given product. Add multiple products as needed.
3. Click Continue, scroll down to the Select a Payment Method, in the Payment Method drop-down menu, scroll down below the Other Payment Options to select a method that does not require a Credit Card.
4. Click Update & Continue, enter the payment information based off of the Payment Option selected. Click Update & Continue when finished.

For more information about this and other features available please refer to the Administration Manual: http://www.modularmerchant.com/docs/Admin_Manual.pdf

I hope this information was helpful. If you have any further questions, please let us know.

thanks for the reply.

Just wanted to see if I could request this as a feature. While I understand that the payment options for the online store is intended on being authorized through an online gateway, some stores may find this enhancement useful.

Perhaps there are customers who are hesitant with placing their information on line? There could be pre-arranged terms between the store and customer (pre-paid, physical gift certificate, barter/trade, NET 30/60/90) and it would be easier if the customer were to select their order themselves rather than communicating the order to a store admin, to then have the store admin enter the info into the "Place an Order" section.

Thank you for these suggestions, I will forward them on to our development team as feature requests for a future software update.

In the meantime there is a workaround solution; it is possible to give customers a Credit account, meaning they can purchase products from the store on Store Credit; this will bypass the Credit Card portion of the checkout process. The actual payment can come later, via check, money order, etc. Depending the terms set with the customer.

To setup a Customer to use Credit to make purchases, please do the following:

1. From the Administration area go to [Navigation Menu > Customers > Search Customers], find the customer in question and click on the SID number next to their name to open the Customer details page.

2. From the Customer details page, click on the E in the Customer Toolbox. Scroll down to the Credit Accountsection.

3. Select Yes in the first option to make the Credit Account active. Enter the Amount of days the terms are for. An example would be; if the customer is billed every 30 days for their purchases, enter a 30 in this field.

4. Enter the Credit Account limit, if this limit is reached by the customer and not paid; the store will not allow any further purchases to be made until the balance is paid.

Using the Credit Account method of payment enables customer to pay in any method acceptable by you as the store’s administrator.

Note: it is the store administrator’s responsible to collect funds for orders placed via this Credit Account and to change the order status to Paid .

Another solution would be to issue Gift Certificates in which the customer can purchase products using the gift certificate, bypassing the credit card portion of the checkout process.

B-

Thanks for that information. That could be a workaround for now, but I will have to designate this per customer, rather than having all customers have the ability to setup an order online.

Thanks again!
