Server 07 Downtime Information: 10/10/2008

On October 10th, 2008 from 12:40pm to 2:15pm PST, the server facility in which several Modular Merchant servers are hosted experienced issues with their power grid and cooling systems. These issues caused all accounts hosted on server 07 to be offline for this period of time.

Following is an excerpt from the communication from the hosting facility regarding this downtime:
"...At approximately 1:38 P.M. CDT, our DFW data center experienced a brief loss of utility power that initiated a reset of our internal chillers. During the transition, two external chillers were brought online manually. The first attempt failed, and a subsequent attempt to bring these chillers online was made. During this time, the two internal chillers were brought back online. One external chiller was brought back online. Temperatures in the datacenter are currently holding steady, with two internal chillers and one external chiller in operation..."

This downtime was caused by heat-related hardware issues at the server facility. It was not the result of network connectivity or Modular Merchant software performance.

The situation at the hosting facility appears to have stabilized, and all servers are again online and accessible. This forum post will be updated if this situation changes or if more information becomes available.
