I don't ask my customer to create accounts so I have no "customers" in my list. Also, because paypal screws up so many orders, I have to generate a lot of "free" download orders.
So the only record I have of everyone who has received products is from the list of download orders. It would be nice to be able to export the list of email addresses and names from this list of download orders. |

That's an excellent suggestion, and we have added to our Development Schedule as an official Feature Request for consideration and inclusion in a future software update. The status of the items on the Development Schedule can be found in the "Support" section of the store's administration area.
In the meantime, there is a workaround that may help you export the information that you're looking for.
Step 1: One the "Export Order Data" page, located in the stores' administration area at: [Navigation Menu > Orders > Export Order Data], select the checkbox in the "Order Data Export Preferences" section that is titled "Include products that don't require shipping?". This checkbox should be selected because we'll be exporting orders containing digital products, which don't require shipping.
Step 2: Click the "Update Preferences" button to save you changes.
Step 3: Go to the "Search Orders" page, located at: [Navigation Menu > Orders > Search Orders].
Step 4: In the "Search Orders" section, select "orders that match the rules below" from the menu titled "Search for:".
Step 5: A section with rules will be displayed. In the first row, set the rules to "Orders matching 'all' of the rules below 'on any date'."
Step 6: The next section of the rules will contain three fields. Set these to: "Product Type (tangible, digital, hybrid), is, digital".
Step 7: In the section titled "How should the search results be displayed?" select "Export to a spreadsheet".
Step 8: Click the "Search" button to perform a search that will locate all of the orders in your store that contain digital products, and automatically save them to a spreadsheet that you can download. The spreadsheet will contains all of the fields selected in the "Select the Order Data to Include in Export Files" section of the "Export Order Data" page.
You can edit the settings in steps 4, 5 and 6 above to modify the search results to meet your needs.
On a related note, improvements are also scheduled to begin development in the "3.4.x" version cycle that will add safeguards to the software to try and prevent products, customer data and/or orders from being dropped in transactions that are completed on a third-party payment gateway website. (That is, the order is placed on their website, and their website (hopefully) submits the transaction information back to the store's website.) These additional safeguards should help prevent this problem from happening in the first place as well. _________________ Modular Merchant Mail Bag
