Hello!
Today we released what will (hopefully) be the final beta release for Modular Merchant version 3 (MMv3). "Release Candidate O" includes the final wave of bug fixes and features planned prior to the official release of Modular Merchant 3.0. Assuming that no additional bugs are discovered during the final round of beta testing, version 3.0 will be released within the next two weeks.
"What's new in MMv3, and how do I upgrade from version 2 to 3?"
An excellent question. These questions are addressed in the following forum article:
http://forums.modularmerchant.com/viewtopic/500/
In a nutshell, the recommended steps for migrating from version 2 to 3 are:
1. Start a free trial account to experiment with. A free trial account can be started on the Modular Merchant website at: https://www.modularmerchant.com/trial-sign-up.php (When starting a trial account, you'll need to create a unique account name. We recommend something like "beta_MyCurrentAccountName".)
2. The purpose of the trial account is to create new HTML templates for your store. There's no need to recreate all your products, customers, etc. All of the data from your version 2 store will be retained.
3. In the trial account, create a set of HTML templates for your store using the new Design Packages template system, which replaces version 2's "Skin" system.
4. When you've designed your HTML templates to your liking, contact Modular Merchant Support to let us know that you're ready to change over to MMv3. Modular Merchant Support Techs will take it from there. We'll copy your templates from the trial account over to your live store, and apply the upgrade to MMv3. That's it!
We'd also like to send out a ginormous "Thank you!" to all the testers and clients who have taken part in MMv3's beta testing process. The feedback and suggestions we've received during the development process have led to many improvements to the storefront and administration areas! _________________ Rutabaga
