| Quote: | | We have a customer that had an order scheduled for "Product X", to be processed on Tuesday. On Tuesday the customer's scheduled order was processed normally, but then the store rescheduled it to be processed again on the same day. Why? |
The Cause:
This scenario is most commonly caused when a scheduled order is created that contains product(s) that have not been set up with "Scheduled Billing" options. See Figure 1. (Setting up a product without Scheduled Billing options is okay. In fact, any product that is not subscription-based will be set up without Scheduled Billing options.) However, when a Scheduled Order is created from scratch that includes products with no Scheduled Billing options, the software interprets these options as zero... including the number of days in the product's billing term within the Scheduled Order being created. Since the number of days in the product's billing term is zero in this situation, once the first scheduled order becomes due and is processed, the next scheduled order is setup to be due zero days later... or the same day.
Figure 1: Default (empty) Scheduled Billing options on the Product Editor page.
The Solution:
The solution, in situations like this, is to simply edit the customer's Scheduled Order and manually assign a "billing term" to the products in the order that do not already have one assigned. See Figure 2. The software will start using the billing term manually assigned to the Scheduled Order the next time it processes it.
Figure 2: The Billing Term can be manually updated on the Scheduled Order Editor page. |
